2025 BTI Summer Internship

  • Dear Intern and Family,

First, let me say how thrilled we are to have you (or your son) joining us for the inaugural BTI Summer Internship. This is a rare opportunity, and we do not take lightly the investment of your time, trust, and energy. Our entire team is looking forward to pouring into each young man the wisdom, training, and Biblical principles that have shaped our lives and ministries.

To help things get off to a strong and smooth start, I want to give you a few important arrival details and set expectations for Day One:

  • Date: Monday, June 16th, 2025
Time: Between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM CST
    Location:
    Bible Tracts, Inc.
    603 W. Prairie Street
    Odell, IL 60460

Once interns arrive, we’ll help them get settled into housing and then immediately get them engaged in a hands-on BTI project to kick things off with purpose. At 4:00 PM, we’ll gather for a full orientation and introduction to our staff. After dinner, we’ll close out the evening with preparation and packing for an incredible missions opportunity.

We’ll be heading out very early the next morning (Tuesday, June 17th) for a trip to the Navajo Nation in the Southwest, where interns will get firsthand experience serving on the field in a Gospel-centered context.

  • We know some may be traveling from a distance, and we certainly understand if arriving early seems like a good idea. However, due to our local church’s 40th anniversary celebration for Pastor Dan Woodward concluding on Sunday, June 15th, we will not be able to provide housing or assume responsibility for interns prior to 1:00 PM on Monday without prior communication.

If there are extenuating circumstances that require flexibility, or if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.

  • In preparation for the internship, you’ll find several important documents included below, including our Waiver and Release of Liability, the Intern Packing List, and a brief Dress Code Overview. Please take time to review each item carefully. Once you’ve looked everything over, I’d ask that both the intern and a parent (if applicable) use the form linked HERE. Please read all of the included info, and sign the waiver by Saturday, June 7th. I’d also appreciate a quick email confirmation that you’ve read and understood everything in response to the email I sent you. Again, if you have any questions, now or while the interns are with us, don’t hesitate to reach out! My info is below.

We’re praying for God to do something special through this internship. I believe this summer will be a powerful, practical, and unforgettable time of growth for each of our interns, and I am grateful for your support in helping make it possible.

Looking forward to seeing you soon,

For His Glory,

Micah McCurry

Additional Key Communication Points to Include

Parental Contact & Responsibility

  • We are not taking over parental authority. We will not prevent any intern from contacting their parents or family within the bounds of keeping the schedule of the program, and we encourage consistent communication at least once a week, if not more. This is a training experience, not a cut-off.

  • If any medical situations, spiritual concerns, or disciplinary issues arise, you’ll be contacted directly and promptly.

  • Interns remain under their parents’ and pastors’ authority, and we want to reinforce, not replace, that relationship.

Behavior & Conduct Expectations

  • All activities and meals are mandatory unless noted otherwise. Meals are a time for community and fellowship and missing them breaks unity.

  • Be on time. Punctuality is expected. It’s a sign of respect for others’ time and the Lord’s work.

  • Stay above reproach. You are representing BTI, your church, and your family.

  • There is to be no fraternizing with young women we may encounter during our travels or ministry efforts. We expect maturity and discipline in this area. Be wise and discerning.

  • No crude talk, off-color jokes, or inappropriate media of any kind will be tolerated.

  • Always ask if you are unsure. We expect critical thinking and good decision making, but because you do represent us while part of this program and would prefer to be asked before a potentially important decision is made. You will not be treated like children, but too much communication is far better than too little.

Spiritual Life & Devotion

  • Expect to be very involved in church, do devotions, and participate in group prayer times.

  • Interns should come with a heart ready to grow, not just skills to gain. This is a spiritual investment.

Phone & Media Use

  • Phones are allowed but should never be a distraction from ministry or instruction.

  • Media use (social media, music, etc.) should be Christ-honoring and approved if in question. We reserve the right to ask an intern to remove media that doesn’t reflect our values.

Chores & Personal Responsibility

  • Interns will be expected to keep their living spaces and selves clean, do their own laundry, and contribute to team cleaning tasks when necessary.

  • A clean environment is part of a disciplined life. We’re training men, not babysitting boys.

Accountability & Privacy

  • Interns will be held accountable for their attitudes, words, and actions.

  • While we respect personal space, we also reserve the right to inspect any phones or personal property of the interns while they are part of our program, whether they are over or under the age of 18.

Disciplinary Structure

  • Clear expectations will be laid out during orientation.

Repeated or serious violations of conduct expectations may result in early dismissal from the program after consultation with parents and leadership.

This Release and Waiver of Liability (the “Release”) is executed by the undersigned participant (the “Intern”) in favor of Bible Tracts, Inc. (BTI), a nonprofit ministry, and its directors, officers, employees, agents, volunteers, successors, and assigns (collectively, “BTI”).

1. Acknowledgment of Participation

I, the undersigned, desire to participate in the BTI Internship Program (the “Program”). I understand that my participation is voluntary and that the Program may include, but is not limited to, training in areas such as design, music production, videography, leadership, ministry operations, landscaping, and various hands-on projects. Activities may involve physical labor, tool use, travel, and interaction with guest speakers or mentors.

2. Release and Waiver

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Program, I hereby freely, willingly, and without duress execute this Release under the following terms:

I release and forever discharge BTI from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action—legal or otherwise—that may arise out of my participation in the Program.

I understand this Release means I am giving up the right to bring any claim against BTI for injury, illness, death, or property damage, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, in connection with my participation.

3. Assumption of Risk

I understand that some Program activities may involve physical exertion and carry certain inherent risks. I voluntarily assume full responsibility for any such risks, including injury or illness, and acknowledge that these may arise from the use of equipment, travel, or participation in group activities.

If medical attention is needed while I am participating in the Program, I consent to receive such treatment as deemed necessary. I release BTI from any liability related to medical treatment or decisions made in good faith on my behalf.

5. Photographic & Media Release

I grant BTI permission to use photographs, video, or audio recordings of me taken during the Program for ministry promotion, education, or fundraising purposes—without expectation of compensation or additional approval.

6. Code of Conduct
